The Next Lecture “Women in Freemasonry” from Temple of Athene Lodge, No. 9541 (the research Lodge of the Province of Middlesex) takes place on Tuesday 8th December from 5.15 pm.

This continues where the Grand Lodge Library Exhibition left off!

The lecture will be followed by dinner and debate and will take place at Uxbridge Masonic Centre, Western House, 4a Hercies Road, Hillingdon, UB10 9LA.

The Temple of Athene Lodge was consecrated in June 1994. Of the nearly three hundred Lodges in Middlesex, this is the first of its type in the Province. It was founded as a research Lodge and does not carry out any degree working. Apart from the Installation, the meetings are devoted to receiving a “paper” or lecture on some aspect of Freemasonry.

Attached to the Lodge is a “Correspondence Circle”, membership of which is available to any Master Mason (not necessarily of the Province of Middlesex) and entitles them to a Summons to each meeting and a set of annual “Transactions” comprising a set of the previous years lectures in printed form.

The dates of their meetings are as follows:-

• Second Tuesday in December
• First Wednesday in February
• First Wednesday in June (Installation)
• Fourth Tuesday in October

I had the very great pleasure of attending an initiation ceremony at South Africa Lodge held at Freemasons’ Hall

This was their 60th anniversary and meeting and was celebrated by brethren attending from all over the world. Afterwards we meet at the Imperial Hotel for a South African themed meal including a generous supply of South African wine.

On behalf of all at Featherstone Lodge, I’d like to thank our brothers at South Africa Lodge no. 6742 for their generous welcome and wish them continued success and good fortune.
